The Best of Me-Nicholas Sparks

I have to admit I'm definitely one of Nicholas Sparks' biggest fans. What girl wouldn't want one of his novels to be their love stories, except for the exceptions where the two characters don't actually end up together (*cough* Dear John *cough*), but besides that I'm pretty sure ever girl would love for him to write their love story. His novels have been made into some great movies also, well maybe not great but certainly good chick flicks that I could watch over and over again.

Okay, on to The Best of Me. Its a story of high school sweethearts. The story starts when they are 40 years old and living differently lives in different places. Dawson Cole can't stop thinking about the girl he loved when he was 17. Amanda Collier lives her live half heartedly with three kids and an alcoholic husband. Both are summoned back to the town they got out of when their friend, Tuck, dies. As a teenager, Dawson Cole spent his live hiding from his abusive family in Tuck's garage. The Cole's were hated and feared in the small town of Oriental. Amanda Collier was raised by high class parents. The Collier's were part of the "royalty" in the small town. The two are paired together for a school project and begin spending more and more time together, eventually falling in love. Amanda's parents have big life plans for her (Duke, a career, a family) and Dawson isn't part of those plans. One thing leads to another and Dawson and Amanda are separated. Amanda heads off to Duke and Dawson ends up in prison (and eventually an oil rig where he lives a quiet, lonely life thinking about Amanda and what could have been).
After 25 years apart their is still a strong bond between them they realize as they are thrown back together. In only a couple days they begin to realize what could have been and both begin questioning the choices they made in their lives.

Also, I hear it might be made into a movie!! I haven't finished the book yet, but I know I will go see it as soon as it comes out. If I were to cast people as these characters I would cast:

Dawson: Hugh Jackman (how much more ruggedly handsome could a man get?)
Amanda: Teri Hatcher
Tuck: Anthony Hopkins
Ted: Kenau Reeves
Abee: Michael Sheen
Frank: Andy Garcia
Amanda's mom: Meryl Streep

Hunger Games

With the movie for the Hunger Games movie approaching quickly I decided there was no better way to start my blog. Although I read these when they first came out I'm still beyooond excited for the movie. If you haven't read these yet GO BUY THEM RIGHT NOW, I promise you will not regret it. Every chapter gets better and better. I wasn't able to put it down. If you don't know what it's about, here's my short description (it's pretty hard to describe in a short amount of time though, so bare with me).

The country has been divided up into 12 districts. Each district has a different characteristic, something they excel in. Every year the Capital (in district 1) holds the Hunger Games, a battle between 2 people (a boy and a girl) from each district. The tributes, the 2 chosen ones, are selected at random from a box.  The novel starts off with Katniss (played by Jennifer Lawrence), the main character, stepping in and volunteering when her sister is selected to participate in the Hunger Games. The novels tell of her life after that, it is forever changed because of the Hunger Games that she is now a part of. There is also a romance happening during all of this. Gail, the handsome older boy that she has been friends with forever (played by Liam Hemsworth), and there's sweet Gail, the baker's son, who also is a tribute (played by Josh Hutcherson)
