Let me start by saying-EVERYONE should read this book. This book quickly became one of my favorites. It begins in during WWI in a small town in Texas with Mary Toliver's story. You slowly learn the towns history and the importance of the three founding families in Howbutker, Texas. Mary Toliver and Percy Warwick fall into a quick, dramatic love and Mary is forced to choose between her love for Percy and her love for the Toliver plantation. They never marry and have to deal with their loss and deceit. They hope for a better love story for their children and grandchildren. Roses reminds us of a time where love and family pride were what mattered most in life. A moving love story filled with struggle, loss, and happiness is sure to please every audience.
